There are several bats declared ineligible by Slo-Pitch Ontario, and which rules will be used in our league.  Please click on the link above to get a list of these bats.

The umpires will NOT be checking for Illegal Bats before the games, it is your job to make sure that no one uses them.  However, if a batter comes to bat and assumes his position in the batter's box, and is detected using an illegal bat, he will be called out, and he along with the Team Coach/Rep will be ejected from the game. If the Umpire does not detect it and a member of the other team does, and issues a protest about the bat, the same thing will happen if it is illegal.

Make sure you know the rules and the illegal bats!

Remember as well, as was the case last year, that you can BAT EVERYONE that is there, on your roster, up to 17 players, or you can use a lesser amount and leave other players to be substituted in later in the game.
As well, any players showing up late, can be inserted at the bottom of the lineup at any time, but must be announced to the umpire! ReEntry rule will be in effect for substitutes,  make sure you know it!

You are allowed to start a game with 8 players, and make note that as soon as you have 8 players, the game will start on time, and subsequent members can be added, as they arrive and inserted in the game at any time, at the bottom of the order!

Profanity will not be accepted to any degree and calls for ejection.

In the league, a warning will be given regarding jewellery, and once the warning is given, any subsequent violation will call for ejection from the game.  Make sure any players with Medical Alert jewellery bring this to the umpires' attention when they come to bat.

Beware that there will be stricter rules regarding batters making contact with the ball, with either foot out of the batters box, and that both feet must be in the Batters' Box to begin with.  When the batters' box becomes rubbed out, the umpire will still rule with his own discretion, and have been instructed to be strict on this ruling. YOU ARE WARNED

Mercy Rule is still 12 runs after 7 innings. Losing team must have batted equal times, so this means that if the visiting team goes up 12+ runs, in the 7th, 8th or 9th inning, the Home team still gets to bat in the bottom of that inning!
